
The Group operates or has an interest in three distinct businesses/brands:
ETC employed 318 staff as at 31 December 2008 and is principally engaged in air ticketing for the Frequent Individual Traveller (FIT). Historically it has generated the majority of its revenue from commission earned on air ticket booking.
ETC delivers its services via a multi-platform distribution model with a 24 hour call centre, an advanced internet booking engine and a number of high street shops and kiosks.
EJV is an exclusive joint venture with China Southern Airlines (CSA). Revenues in the joint venture are generated from service fees from CSA based on total e-ticket sales across the CSA group.
CSA is considered to be the largest airline in China based on annual passenger traffic. EJV has approximately 6,000 contracting e-ticketing agents as its customers across China and has secured counters in about 90 airports in China. Going forward the Group plans to utilise these counters to act as service distribution points for Et-china hotel and FIT-package offers, as well as to enable customers to collect air and hotel tickets.
The Group acquired a 50.64% stake in GZL, a leading provider of domestic and overseas packaged group tours in South China and one of the largest leisure tour operators in China.
GZL was reincorporated from Guangzhou Travel Company which was established in 1980 and employed 1,276 staff and contractors as at 31 December 2008, GZL provides tour packages comprising transport, accommodation and sightseeing and has direct sales contacts with approximately 500 hotels, 55 domestic and international airlines, 105 destination agents and 80 inbound agents. In 2008 GZL arranged tours for 1,023,000 travellers. It has a strong brand, operates through 115 branded high street stores in Guangdong province and offers a call centre for telephone bookings. GZL has received a number of prestigious awards including 'Famous Brand in China', (the only regional travel company ever given this award). 'Top 10 Quality Brands Customers Trust' and 'Top 10 Most Influential Brands of China' Travel Agency.
